Animal Magic
I have to say I am not a huge fan of zoos and caged animals, but even David Attenborough approves of this one! All the animals are in their natural environment and aren’t in cages. Instead it is an open zoo concept and most have a moat of water separating them from the public. It is gorgeous just walking around. Finn adores it. It is set alongside a huge lake and really beautiful. It is citied as one of the best zoos in the world.
We are members and pay about ₤40 a year for a family card. Not bad at all seeing as we go, at the very least, once a month. With my female logic it is a free day out!!
There is also a farm and a children’s play area with a water park, which Finn loves. A kidde train, and also a tram that you can take around the whole zoo. The zoo is very much into the idea of educating the public and raising awareness and have frequent feeding sessions. You can even feed the elephants (Finn always seems keen and then hides at the last minute when it is his turn!) One of my favs is the Orang –utans enclosure as they have roaming free time so you can see them right up close. One of them had a 4 week old baby yesterday………how cute! Anyway, enough ramble......will leave you with some photos of our trip.
One of Finn's favourites.....Pen-gins as he calls them!

The Elephants (no, really??!!)
The giraffe enclosure is great as you view them from a tower that is their height. Up close and personal!
Finn at the play area...why the only photo I took was Finn going up the steps I don't know!
Justin and Finn on a cow that you can drive around!
The lions. I love seeing them just to hear Finn roar! The Daddy lion was looking very majestic....then he went over to the Mummy. Oh look Finn the Daddy lion is kissing the Mummy, how lovely.......oh............
Doing a bit more than kissing now!!!
And out of all the exhibits, all the wonderful animals, I will leave you with the one that captured my boy's attention the most. He was entranced........................

That sounds like a magic day Im so jealous. I have only taken the kids to the zoo once, Sylvie has never been. Ruby was only tiny and it was a cold wet day. Maybe thats something we should do before baby#4 arrives! I love the chimps best. x
Hey, a zoo and diggers? What more can a boy ask for? Finn is looking far too grown up - even from behind! XXX
We used to have a family card for Colchester Zoo, and loved going! Cool pic of the lions!
Joe is just getting into 'dig digs', thanks to the diggers, I really should get down to Matalan and get some for Finn before they sell out!

Looks like a fab day out and we would pay that for one trip never mind a year's pass!
Bet Finn was thrilled to see the diggers!

We used to have Gold Cards for Colchester zoo too, it's ace and one of the sealions is called Nia! As for feeding elephants, not such a good plan as they leave snotty trails on your hand ewwwww!
Had to chuckle at the digger, that boy is OBSESSED!!!!
Look at that Finnbinn growing away! He looks like a proper little boy climbing those steps, he seems so tall! Bet he had a top day at the zoo and the digdig was the icing on the cake! We had a similar thing Friday, took LJ swimming but although he was loving it, a digger stopped outside the pool window to do some work and that meant the rest of 'swim time' was spent near the window gazing out! At least they know what makes them happy!!!
